Accountability Scores

NJ state summative accountability indicator scores by school and year.

Under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), New Jersey assigns each school a summative score and rating based on a set of weighted accountability indicators. These indicators include ELA proficiency, mathematics proficiency, ELA growth, mathematics growth, graduation rates, progress toward English language proficiency, and chronic absenteeism. The indicators and weights applied vary depending on whether a school serves elementary/middle grades, high school grades, or both.

Each indicator score is a percentile rank reflecting performance relative to other schools within the same grade configuration, incorporating both overall school performance and average performance across student groups. The summative score is calculated by multiplying each indicator score by its corresponding weight and summing the results. The summative rating is the percentile rank of that summative score within the school's grade configuration.
