Discipline

School discipline data including suspensions, removals, expulsions, and law enforcement referrals by student group and grade.

This dashboard shows data on student disciplinary incidents and actions as reported by school districts through the Student Safety Data System (SSDS). Incident types include violence, vandalism, weapons, substances, and HIB-related incidents. Disciplinary removal types shown include in-school suspensions, out-of-school suspensions, removals to other educational programs, and expulsions. An in-school suspension is a temporary removal for at least half a day while the student remains under direct school supervision. An expulsion is a discontinuation of all educational services provided by the district.

The dashboard also includes police notifications and arrests related to school incidents. A single incident may be counted under more than one incident type; as a result, the sum of incidents across types may not equal the total unique incident count shown.
