4-Year Graduation Rate
Percentage of students graduating within 4 years.
The four-year graduation rate is the percentage of students who entered grade 9 and graduated with a state-endorsed diploma within four years. New Jersey uses the federal adjusted cohort graduation rate formula, which adjusts for students who transfer in or out of the district during the four-year period. The dashboard allows you to view either the state percentage or the federal percentage of the graduation rate, which counts all students who received a state-endorsed diploma as graduates.
Beginning in 2020-21, the NJDOE also calculates a federal version for ESSA accountability purposes. The federal version excludes students with disabilities whose IEPs contained modifications or exemptions to state course, attendance, or graduation assessment requirements. The federal version can be displayed by selecting the toggle icon in the dashboard. Cohort profiles and student group breakdowns are available, along with trend data for the most recent school years.
