HIB Investigations

Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying investigation counts.

Under New Jersey's Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act, schools are required to investigate every reported incident of harassment, intimidation, or bullying (HIB). This dashboard shows the number of alleged, confirmed, and total HIB investigations. Investigations are categorized by the nature of the allegation, reflecting protected characteristics identified in N.J.S.A. 18A:37-14. A single incident may be counted in more than one category if the investigation involved multiple protected characteristics.

All confirmed incidents must have an identified nature; the “No Identified Nature” row will not show a confirmed count. HIB data is collected through the Student Safety Data System (SSDS) and reflects incidents reported during each school year.
