Seal of Biliteracy
Students earning the Seal of Biliteracy by language. The Seal recognizes students who have demonstrated proficiency in English and at least one other language.
The New Jersey State Seal of Biliteracy is awarded to graduating students who have demonstrated proficiency in English and at least one additional language by high school graduation. To be eligible, students must have met the state's ELA graduation assessment requirements and demonstrated proficiency in another language through a qualifying world language assessment taken between the spring of their junior year and spring of their senior year.
This dashboard shows the number of seals earned, the languages in which seals were awarded, and the percentage of 12th grade students who earned a seal. Student group breakdowns and trend data are available. Data is reported by school districts each March through NJ SMART Student Management. If no students earned a seal in a given year, no data will be displayed.
