Teacher Experience

This dashboard shows information about the experience and credentials of teachers assigned to the school or district, with comparisons to statewide data. Metrics include average years of experience in public schools, average years of experience in the current district, the percentage of teachers with four or more years of experience in public schools, the percentage of out-of-field teachers, and the percentage of teachers with provisional credentials.

A teacher is classified as out-of-field if their job code does not match a valid authorization in the NJDOE Teacher Certification Information System (TCIS), or if the corresponding certificate has expired. A teacher with provisional credentials is a fully certified novice teacher of record who must complete additional evaluation and mentoring requirements before receiving standard certification.
