Workforce Readiness

Work-based learning participation and registered apprenticeship data.

This dashboard shows the percentage of students in grades 11 and 12 who participated in Structured Learning Experiences (SLEs) during the school year. SLEs are supervised, in-depth learning experiences aligned to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards and are designed to connect academic learning to career exploration. Types include job shadowing, school-based enterprises, volunteering, paid and unpaid internships, cooperative education experiences, pre-apprenticeships, and youth apprenticeships.

SLE participation is reported by school districts each summer through the Course Roster submission using SCED codes. Students do not need to be enrolled in a CTE program to participate in SLEs. The participation rate is calculated by dividing the unique count of students in grades 11 and 12 enrolled in one or more SLE courses by total end-of-year enrollment for those grades.
